Beer, flour, culture: the history of the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen

As we know today the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen is known today, that's how it was mostly built back then. However, beer and flour were produced with the construction in the picturesque Tiefenbrunnen from 1891. Less than twenty years later, however, fate had other plans for the building.

Today the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen as a vibrant cultural area. The Mühlerama, the Museum of Food Culture, is the surviving centerpiece of the past. Visitors can marvel at the functioning mill technology, which is still put into operation once a day. Here you accompany the grain on its way through the millstones until you can finally buy it in a flour bag in the museum store. Next to the museum, the theater Millers delights visitors with its variety and cabaret program. The Blaue Ente offers gastronomy at the highest level and is ideal for dinner dates, celebrations or cozy moments in the courtyard. The café Kornsilo spoils guests at lunchtime and on weekends with a rich brunch offer.

The history of the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen is a fascinating journey from a beer brewery to a flour mill and finally to a living cultural area. The building has changed again and again over the decades, adapting to the needs of the times. Today the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen a place that combines history, culture, gastronomy and community. This succeeds because the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen building is still in the hands of the Wehrli family, who share their values in this area.
