Sustainable travel: Mühlerama Zurich becomes a Carvelo host

A new highlight at Mühlerama:
Our Carvelobox is here!

Since this year, Mühlerama has been a proud Carvelo host - and thus part of a sustainable mobility network. With our own Carvelo box, we offer a practical 24/7 pick-up station directly in the entrance area of the museum.

This Mühlerama is more than just a museum - we are an industrial mill that is over 100 years old and still produces flour. In our permanent exhibition and changing special exhibitions, we shed light on the topics surrounding the food system, and in our courses we show how to bake really good bread.

We are particularly proud of the fact that we grind wheat that grows directly in the city of Zurich. Many local restaurants appreciate our regionally produced flour. But it was also important to us to get this flour to people in a sustainable way. The solution: our "Fuhrwerk", an electric cargo bike (Carvelo), which our community service worker uses to deliver several hundred kilos of flour every week - with a lot of muscle power and a touch of electricity.

Why we became a Carvelo host

We have often rented Carvelos in Zurich in the past, but the stations were usually on the other side of the city. In order to do something good for Seefeld , we decided to set up a Carvelo box ourselves.

Our carriage is now parked directly in the museum entrance, protected from the weather and accessible around the clock. The box is not only used intensively by us, but is also very popular with our neighbors. The bike is currently still available for 700 hours a month - plenty of time for anyone who wants sustainable transportation!

Sustainability and sharing as a basic principle

As a museum and team that is involved in initiatives such as Mobility, we have been living the principle of sharing for a long time. The partnership with Carvelo was therefore an obvious step. Carvelo looks after and maintains the cargo bike - all we had to do was install the Carvelo box and an electrical connection. Admittedly, we also purchased an air pump.

For us, the Carvelo project is not only a logistical relief, but also a contribution to a more sustainable city. And it's simply fun to be part of a community that is committed to environmentally friendly mobility.
